Microsoft previews Power Platform web design offering
Microsoft has announced the preview of Power Pages, the fifth product in its Power Platform family, designed for low-code creators and professional developers.
Power Apps portals provided users with end-to-end experiences to quickly create external portals and customize them with pages, layouts, and content.
Power Pages is a standalone offering that gives anyone access to a robust platform for building modern, secure, data-driven websites, regardless of technical skill level.
The new offering also offers adaptable features to facilitate scalability by providing businesses of any size with the means to securely build websites with dynamic aesthetic features.
Microsoft says its low-code family is the world’s most comprehensive development platform, and this new product will streamline business processes and automate workflows, enabling unification and convenience.
As part of the preview, a range of features and capabilities are now available.
The design studio makes it easy to design, style, setup and publish modern business websites by giving users the option to start from scratch or use a pre-made template to build their site pages with text, videos, images, business data forms and lists.
The Models Hub contains websites complete with demo data, making it easy to learn how to manage job scheduling, registration, and submission.
Additionally, the Learn Hub lets users explore quick guides, tutorials, and videos to learn how to build websites, model and visualize business data, work with code components, and set up sites.
Microsoft Dataverse is a low-code data platform that allows users to securely collect and share business information with site visitors.
Power Pages runs on Microsoft Azure and connects to Dataverse to provide vital security features including advanced encryption, role-based access controls (RBAC), and support for Microsoft Azure Front Door and Other Web Application Firewalls.
These tools allow professional developers to securely interact with underlying business data and implement custom business logic without leaving the surface of their favorite development tools.
The Microsoft Power Platform CLI also helps developers easily download and upload their customization projects.
Microsoft notes that many see low-code web development as ideal for basic projects such as site layouts, company profiles, or e-commerce platforms for other content.
Power Pages lets users do more than that, supporting professional, large-scale, enterprise-wide businesses.
Benefits of the Power Pages platform include:
Reach and serve millions of people, offering community services such as self-service permitting, licensing, incident and outage reporting, and grant application.
Provide answers to common questions about products, services, special events, policies and procedures.
Provide self-service services to customers all day, such as warranty registration, returns, support requests, appointments and reservations.
Streamline business processes with partners, such as supplier onboarding, sustainability tracking, request management, and supplier support.
