IIT Palakkad Announces Web Design Contest for Students, Designers and Winner to Get Rs 30,000

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Palakkad has announced a nationwide web design competition. Entries were invited from designers and students who will submit a design for the institute website and a design for a department website. The last to make submissions is July 24, at 5 p.m.

College students, freshmen, and designers can apply for the competition. Group submissions are allowed but the group can have a maximum of three members. Applications should be submitted to [email protected]

The winner will receive Rs 30,000 and up to two second prizes will receive Rs 15,000 each. A few consolation prizes are also up for grabs. Each winning design will also receive a certificate. “IIT Palakkad’s decision on the results of the competition would be final and binding. IIT Palakkad will have full rights to all award-winning material,” the institute said in its official notice.

“Websites should look aesthetically pleasing with a good combination of colors, background, structure and layout. The layout and color scheme should blend well with the colors and character of the logo The interface should be modern and user-friendly with easy-to-navigate features and easy-to-use functions,” the official notice reads.

IIT Palakkad has also indicated the guidelines that should be incorporated while making the designs. The design should be suitable for computer screens, tablets and mobile phones. According to the website, sections such as “what’s new”, “latest updates”, “recruitment”, “student activities”, etc. must be added. The department home page should contain the gallery, events, awards, news blocks, and separate menus. It should also have professor profiles structured with areas such as publications, awards, research area, etc. which can be regularly updated by the faculty concerned.

“Make sure the submission does not use any copyright-infringing material or logos without permission from the entity that owns the usage rights. All content must be yours, or you should have the right to use and license it. Do not post photos of people without permission. You can use the available content (without editing the photos, documents, logo, etc.) on the ITI website Palakkad solely for the purposes of this submission,” the official website reads.
