How to manually install the Facebook pixel on your website

Facebook Pixel (Meta Pixel as it is currently known) is a piece of code that you place on your website that allows you to measure, optimize and retarget audiences for your advertising campaigns on Facebook and Instagram.

The Meta Pixel is a code provided by Facebook, and it could be considered a third-party cookie.

How much does a Facebook pixel cost? No, setting up and installing a Facebook pixel is completely free and you don’t have to advertise with Facebook (this may of course change in the future).

Additionally, you can create up to 100 pixels in your Meta Business Manager account. But you normally only need one Facebook pixel for your business.

Installing Facebook Pixel allows you to track what people are doing on your website, such as buying your products or services or adding items to their cart.

You can also use the Pixel to retarget your ads to people who have previously visited a particular webpage or subscribed to your email list.

When running a Facebook ad campaign without a pixel, the only conversion you can optimize for is link clicks. That’s fine, at least you got them to take action, but to grow your business, you need them to take more powerful action in the form of a signup or a purchase.

In this article, you’ll learn how to create your Pixel, perform Pixel setup, place Pixel code on your website, and verify that your Pixel is working.
