Half of consumers consider a company’s website design to be crucial to their opinion of that brand

WASHINGTON, April 22, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Half of consumers (50%) say their impression of a brand depends on the design of the company’s website, according to a new report from Top Design Firms, a directory of digital and creative agencies.

Since consumer preferences vary, businesses should frequently evaluate their business’s web design. Given recent industry trends, companies need to consider visuals that enhance the customer experience and match their overall message.

The data revealed that consumers prefer to see photos or images (40%), color (39%) and videos (21%) when visiting websites.

Consumers love to see multimedia experiences when they visit a website.

Jessica day, the co-founder of Idea Scale, believes that while multimedia is essential to website design, businesses need to think about their customers.

“It’s important to have multiple ways to share messages because not everyone is drawn to the same types of content,” Day said.

While preferences may vary, there is one key thing companies should consider.

An engaging user experience is the key to a successful website redesign

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the “physical” experiences a concept alien to many. Small businesses, however, can still create engaging digital environments for their audience.

Almost a third of consumers (31%) believe that an engaging user experience should be a company’s primary goal when designing a website.

An effective user experience should speak directly to a company’s target audience. Understanding the visions and preferences of consumers takes research, so creating a great user experience isn’t a silver bullet.

Cook Calloway, president of Illuminate laboratories, accepts and encourages companies to anticipate.

“Optimizing the user experience is an ongoing process,” Cook said.

Consumer preferences change often and small businesses should be prepared to update their websites to align with new trends that will generate high engagement.

Businesses should prepare for their website redesign with user experience in mind.

Poor functionality is the most common reason visitors leave websites

Forty-two percent of consumers (42%) will leave a website because of poor functionality. Site visitors will leave websites due to cluttered layouts, lack of visibility, and slow response time.

When optimizing their website for user experience, businesses should think about accessibility, navigation, and other efficiencies to make them as streamlined as possible.

“People will make assumptions about your product and services based on how easy or how difficult it is to navigate your website,” Day said.

Businesses that prioritize user preferences and streamlined features in their website redesign will make a positive impression on users.
